Dear fellow practitioners, hello Amitabha!
Yesterday we gave many examples to talk about how to respect the teacher and cultivate sincere respect.This is because I hope that the fellow practitioners can establish this very important foundation before studying the Fa, and only after this foundation can they be truly absorbed in the Fa-study.
At the same time, we also gave some practical examples to remind fellow practitioners to be careful not to inadvertently create all kinds of karma for the three evil ways because of disrespect in the process of learning. Take this as a vigilance and do not commit the same mistakes again, because these mistakes are very serious sins.Even if we committed it unintentionally because of ignorance, there is no way to avoid this retribution, and in order not to form evil ties with sentient beings, often good knowledge will stay away from you and refuse to teach you.Then in the process of studying, you will never get out of your blind spots and misunderstandings by discerning the law.
At the same time, we practitioners must also integrate what we have learned and experienced, how to integrate respect into our daily lives, and make it a part of our habits, so that we can hope to achieve true merit in our studies.In particular, you must avoid not being able to look at the faults of others, and to keep the precepts that you are not precepts to others, especially the Three Jewels of the family inheritance of the burden of Tathagata.
If we are disrespectful to the Three Jewels, not only will our Dao Karma fail to achieve Dharma discrimination, but also our morals and happiness will be very detrimental. Therefore, many fellow practitioners are also in Buddhism and have cultivated a lot of blessings. Why can't we still feel good results? A lot of troubles, this is karma.What you cultivate is a blessing with leakage, just like a cup filled with water, this is a blessing, but there are holes in the bottom of the cup, and it leaks while it is installed, so it is for nothing, and even the karma created is more than what you have cultivated. blessing.
So we have seen the current situation of many practitioners in Buddhism. Why can't they benefit from their studies? It's not that Buddhism is not working, but that we have cultivated wrong.We need to know, especially the monks. Now that the Buddha is not alive, the monks represent the Buddha. The three treasures of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are one body, and the Dharma must be promoted through the monks. Respect like a Buddha, this is the right attitude.
In this respect, the teaching of Tantra is particularly strict, but it does not mean that only practice of Tantra requires respecting the master as a Buddha. No matter which school, school, or method we learn, this is all necessary. condition.This is because only the consummation of our inner spiritual virtues can be enlightened. In fact, even if the monks don’t have full enlightenment, the Dharma he teaches is the realm of the Buddha’s personal witness. This Dharma is like a medicine list. The prescription of the medicine, but the prescription must be based on the right medicine, for each person’s different symptoms, and a separate prescription for you, then this job lies in the monk’s treasure, for the monks.
So in other words, if you don’t respect the monks, then this is detrimental to the way of the teacher. Don’t think that we are following Buddhism by saying that the monks are not enlightened. As long as you respect the Buddha and the Dharma, it is enough. If there is no monks to prescribe these medicines. , Then your disease is incurable.Just like what we said, it is necessary to make an agreement and also an opportunity. The work of this opportunity lies with the monks, so it is natural to respect the monk.

Besides, we are monks.This sangha image represents the Buddha image, so this sangha image, this sangha image, this sangha image itself has infinite merits.If we see monks showing a monk's appearance and showing no respect, it is equivalent to disrespecting the Buddha, and the sin of disrespecting the Buddha is very serious.Therefore, some people often think that we only need to respect the Buddha. If the monks are not enlightened, it is not worth my respect. This kind of arrogance is actually not seeing the truth.This monk's form alone has immeasurable merits, so it is stated in the vows that even a monk who breaks the vows can be supported by man.
This is hard for ordinary people to imagine, or even hard to accept. Its reason is here because it is the merit of the monk, and this identity represents the Buddha, the burden of the family.It is like the status of a prince. Although this prince has bad habits and many problems, and may even often make some mistakes, after all, he is a prince, and he will inherit the throne in the future. Besides, he is not very good at present and it is hard to guarantee that he will not be You won’t be enlightened if you change.
Therefore, we must not underestimate the monks, we must treat them as Buddhas, as the means of the future.Learning respectfully in this way is absolutely good for us without loss. Don't care about that kind of ordinary mind. He doesn't practice. If I respect him, then he will cheap him and lose in vain. This kind of thinking is not pure.Some people say: This monk who breaks the precept is worthy of our respect, and even thinks that the practice at home is better than the practice of the monk. We have seen many laymen now, and we even heard that many laymen have such a sigh.
That is actually a wrong view. We are a monk who prescribes two hundred and fifty precepts for monks and XNUMX precepts for bhikkhus. If a monk breaks one hundred precepts, it is still more than one hundred and fifty for you, right? There are many obstacles because of the suffering of the five precepts in the family.Even if you have good roots and are very determined to practice and maintain the precepts, it is actually very difficult. You just don’t kill. You see our monks, as long as you are in the Sangha, you rarely do karma without going out. Rarely will keep the precepts and be unclean.

Because you don't have a chance to break the precepts, if you want to break the precepts, immediately kneel down and hit the incense board to help you eliminate your karma and make your confession clean.Therefore, if you accidentally commit a crime every day, you will also confess, and you will confess it immediately. Basically, you will not accumulate too much sin karma, and you will raise your vigilance every day and observe your three karma.If you don’t watch, others will help you watch it. If you make a mistake, the fellow Taoists will remind you that we also have an obligation to persuade the monks who live with us in the precepts. There are also rules in the precepts, so someone will help you to hold them. Quit diligently.
Lay members are not the same. Many laymen will think about it and know that it is not easy to keep the precepts even if they have the intention. So from the perspective of precepts, how can lay members be compared with monks?Then why do some people easily mistakenly think that their cultivation is better than monks?It's because of his wrong values, the so-called good and bad, he is based on his ability to work, how much money I can make, how much money I can lead, how much money I can lead, I have done very well in all aspects of humanity, this monk is stupid If you don't understand anything, if you don't understand the rules at all in the society, you think that they are stronger, and they understand more of their own cultivation. This is a mistake of opinion.
What is the real goal of our practice of Buddhism?Purify our three karma, so the Buddha told us to give up, the external material, and even the inner mind and body insights, all delusions and attachments must be thoroughly cleansed to the purest. These goals are often easier for monks to be satisfied, and some are The good roots of the past life are relatively pure in this life, with different starting points.
And these old lay practitioners who have been practicing for a long time, if the so-called "being unreliable because of the place, and the detours" at the beginning, you did not establish respect for the motivation at the beginning, and did not follow the precepts step by step, and truly practice. , Then even if you have much abilities in society, and even how much blessing you have cultivated in Buddhism, you have learned a lot about the name and form of Buddhism, and even your management of the temple is institutionalized. All these practical experiences are all Very rich, none of these can represent the realm of merit in your cultivation, and sometimes it even represents something, your pollution is even heavier.
Therefore, the depth standard of this gongfu merit is not determined by oneself, but by the Buddha.
So no matter what, we must cultivate true respect for the monk. In this way, on the one hand, the Dharma spoken by our monks on behalf of the Buddha, you can truly fully believe in the good virtues that can also inspire yourself.
We can naturally become very humble, we are greedy, hatred, ignorant, slow, and suspicious.Especially this slow, slow heart is hard for you to surrender yourself, and it’s hard for you to surrender in the social environment. Only when facing the Three Jewels, you can easily get rid of these habitual problems by a large margin, so you have to use these causes to achieve yourself. Don’t think about respecting the Three Jewels as if you have to look at others. Some people respect the Three Jewels as if they have suffered a little loss. Don’t use this mundane mentality to approach the Three Jewels.

(XNUMX) Elephants are better than people
In ancient times, there was a king who wanted to practice benevolence as much as possible because he was a disciple of the Buddha. However, there were still rules for death penalty prisoners at that time. In order to avoid direct killing, he later thought of a method and put a person who was sentenced to death. Put him in the elephants in the Elephant Park. The elephants are very strong. People are trampled to death by accident, so the prisoners in his country are usually put to death in this way.
Then once in this country, there was a monk who committed the death penalty, and the monk still had to be put to death. Because the king was a disciple of the Buddha, it was even more impossible to execute the monk directly, so he was placed in the elephant garden in the same way.But the elephant inside sees the monk's appearance. All sentient beings have spirituality, but some sentient beings and animals are higher than our humans in some respects and more powerful. For example, the sense of smell of dogs is tens of thousands of times higher than that of humans.
Then the wisdom of the elephant, and its kindness often surpasses the root of human kindness, so seeing that the monks not only do not trample him to death, but worship him, and then massage and support him with its trunk. This is called internal wealth donation. This is normal.
We see many stories like these in the scriptures, elephants. . .There are also some deeds of small animals respecting the Three Treasures. I even saw a very touching one. An elephant met a fake monk. He was just a monk in a robe and not a real monk. He was a robber.As a result, the elephant knew that they all have spirituality, but the robber wanted to kill the elephant. But because the elephant had spirituality, it knew, clearly knew his disgusting thoughts, but still respected his monkhood. It would be better to be killed by him, so respectful to the Three Jewels, as a result, this elephant ascends to heaven after death, because this good root respects the Three Jewels and ascends to heaven.It is also very touched. Elephants can be touched. We are worse than beasts.
Because it is too easy for an elephant to trample a person to death.He would sacrifice himself instead of trampling to death, but dare not show any disrespect to the Three Treasures.Even trampled him to death, knowing that this person is not a real monk, but respects this monk's image. This is not to distinguish the true from the false with the principle of thinking, but when you see the Buddha's image, you are naturally triggered by the good roots, and you are Will produce respect.Even if you know that he is fake, you can't, and you can't bear to get it. This is a natural reaction.

Then we have to cultivate such a sincere respect for the Three Jewels, such a kind of sincere respect. Being able to respect the Sangbao means respecting the Buddha and respecting the Dharma.Disrespectful monks and monks are disrespectful to the Buddha, disrespectful to the Dharma, and ungrateful at the same time.If you are a Buddhist disciple, because no matter what, you might think that I studied Buddhism by going to the Internet or watching the CD. It seems that I did not directly learn from the Three Treasures, and did not rely on the Master. In fact, speaking on the whole This method has been passed down for more than two thousand years after the Buddha Shakya was revealed to the world. It is the merit of the Three Treasures. This is the source of the Dhamma.
The Three Treasures are one body. You don’t want to draw scores by yourself. I respect this person if you are good. I don’t respect this person if you are not. The Three Treasures are a whole. Therefore, if you are not respectful to any monk, it is equivalent to disrespect to all the Buddhism of Shifang III. Monk you are not respectful, this karma is very serious.Your Dharma body and wisdom are derived from the Three Treasures. If you don’t know how to be grateful and reward, it’s fine, because you haven’t achieved it yet. Of course, you have no ability to reward.
Not long ago I saw a very interesting story. There was an old Master Zhihai in the mainland who told him. He mentioned in the content of his lectures that because he had been to Myanmar and had been to preach the Dharma, he was also quite familiar with the locals in Myanmar. Clearly, Myanmar is a Buddhist country, and many people have been ordained since childhood. So most people in Myanmar can believe in cause and effect. Even if you don’t cultivate concentration or wisdom, at least you understand the principles of cause and effect.
Then once the old Master Zhihai mentioned that there was a robber, because Burma is a very poor country, and some people don't necessarily learn Buddhism wholeheartedly, so there are a lot of thieves.Then there is a robber who wants to snatch the monk’s money, how can he snatch him? Very interesting! He first prayed to the monk and then invited him, of course, the invitation was actually threatening him and forcing him. Ask him to take off the robes, and after taking them off, he snatched money from him, robbed five hundred, and then asked the monk to put on the robes and put on the robes, and then respectfully kneel on the ground to make offerings. Two hundred yuan, how could there be such a weird robber, later this monk also felt weird, yeah! Strange, then you can just grab XNUMX yuan like this, why is it so troublesome?...

(XNUMX) The law of cause and effect is not bad at all
The robber said: He said he understood that for the money from the Three Treasures, the creditor is all sentient beings from all directions.You grab three hundred, each of the sentient beings in the Shifang owes three hundred, and it will be repaid like this in the future, but it's not that it's okay to pay back only XNUMX yuan. The creditor is Shifang, and of course everyone has a share.So he knows that he will be robbed of money and this matter, he must fall to hell in the future, then I will fall to hell in the future, but today because I support another XNUMX yuan, I have the blessings of supporting the monks, the treasure of the monks, when the hell is finished. There is boundless experience, and after the retribution of sin is finished, there will be karma to be saved in the future.
What he said is very reasonable, and it is indeed the case. You only need to offer to the Three Jewels, not to mention the Three Jewels. If you just take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, you will be saved.To take refuge in the Three Jewels, you have a sincere heart, relying on the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Once you have such an intention, you will plant the cause and condition of being saved.What's more, you have provided for the monks and cultivated true blessings, so this robber is very smart and very wise, because this is ordinary, it is a social atmosphere, no matter how bad people are, he has the concept of cause and effect.
If this is in China, there is no such thing. I can't find such a thing. Old Master Zhihai said: This is really a unique robber with good roots. You can't find it in China.After listening to it, we also found it very interesting, but we also found it very strange, why this robber, he knew the cause and effect, and he would suffer immeasurable suffering when he fell into hell, why did he go to make it for XNUMX yuan alone? What about such sin karma? Very strange!…

(XNUMX) Terrible karma needs to always rely on the Dharma and Sangha
You know that man-made karma in general is stupid. You don’t know the retribution of cause, condition, effect, or retribution. Anyone who knows must not dare to do it. Then why does he want to do it? Can be ignored.Why are we still in the six realms of reincarnation and ten dharmas and can’t discern separation? It’s karmic traction, which makes you involuntarily. This karmic force will not be smaller than Buddha’s power, but it is also very strong.
Therefore, we also mentioned in the scriptures that the good roots of sentient beings are incredible. These three incredible powers are actually comparable. Don’t think that only the Buddha’s power is the strongest and the karma of our sentient beings is also terrible. Of course, our good roots are also incredible, so we have. May be converted to holiness.
This karma is incredible. How can we experience it from our lives? For example, we have studied Buddhism and we know that we have to keep the precepts and be pure, including the lay practitioners.The Shurangama Sutra says: "If the lust is not removed, the dust cannot come out." Although our precepts say that the layman is not adulterous and not as strict as the monks, but if the layman sinks into the five desires, he still does not distinguish the three realms. Of course, except for Amitabha's salvation.
So this is especially a cultivator, you must keep the precepts and be pure. In addition to not killing or stealing, this lust is also a very serious karma, and it is also a sin karma that is especially easy to contrive.But we all know that since ancient times, how many heroes and heroes have been smart and capable, but they can’t be compared to beauties. He would rather be a beautiful person than a country, so smart and capable, who can lead a country, why? Will there be no discrimination against lust like this? This is karma.Just like us, who doesn’t know that it’s not allowed to damage people’s homes and being a third party is not allowed by the law, and everyone looks down on it and has no ethics, but who wants to fall in love at first sight and encounter grievances against relatives and creditors, right? Really? It's terrible.
We are bystanders. It seems to be nothing. How can there be such a foolish person? How can we know that such terrible things have to be done? If there is no result, everyone will be painful. Why do we have to do it? We did not understand the method. , But there are so many people who will do it. This is the terrible karma.I do not have the mastery of the law, including this robber, and there is no other factor other than karma that can be satisfactorily explained.

So we understand that karma is terrible, and we must rely on the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and don't think that I can achieve Dao Karma by myself. That is self-deception and impossible.And especially in the current study process, when we are not enlightened and cannot face the karma on our own, we cannot leave the teacher with the same participation. This is very, very important. This is more important than your research. There are many Buddhist names, and no matter how much blessing you cultivate, it is important to come.
You don’t understand anything, and you have no blessings. It’s okay. You foolishly follow the teacher and participate in the same consultations, chanting Buddha all day, and doing what you can do. That’s it, and you will be able to regenerate into a Buddha safely and smoothly. .Because the power of the Three Jewels of fellow Daoists can help you resist this karma. Without this protective wall, the karma of sentient beings is incredible. This is a real example for us.
We can also observe that there is too much in our lives that we can’t do it ourselves.Let’s not talk about those who like to behave like five desires and six dusts, but don’t know how to practice. We already know that people who want to practice can’t do it. So we must rely on the Three Jewels. If you rely on the Three Jewels, we must first establish a true respect for the Three Jewels. Otherwise, your body and mind are in the dojo, and your mind cannot be in harmony with the Three Jewels, and there is no way to correspond, then you have not really practiced in Buddhism, and you will not be able to sense the blessing power of the Three Jewels on you, and there is no way to resist karma.You are still full of troubles in your life, and you have no way to feel the blessings of your hard work, and you have created a lot of karma. All these results are because the foundation is not well laid, and sincere respect has not been truly established.Therefore, in the past two days, I have to go deeper and give some specific examples so that everyone can really understand clearly how to cultivate respect, and then what kind of situations do not have respect, which should be avoided.

(XNUMX) Severe training and cultivation of a noble monk
For example, in the past few years, since 2010, I have been in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China. I have started to spread the Dharma and promote the Dharma to benefit students. I have done anything, from becoming a monk to the present for more than ten years, and I am close to specializing in Pure Land. For eighteen years, I never planned to do anything on my own, including after I became a monk, the cause of this monk was also ordered by the master to shave me, including the teaching of the scriptures, which was also facilitated by someone. Then the old monk nodded himself. It also promised me to recommend me to be the last one to catch up with the XNUMXth Dharma Propaganda Training Course. It was not a plan I had planned in advance.
After graduation, because my grades were very good, the old monk gave me the fifth place and the fifth place in the class. He also personally called the guardian around me to come and ask me if I want to go to Australia to serve as a teaching assistant.Old monk, I can always feel that he cares very much about me, not only for me, but also for the disciples and students around me who are interested in studying the Fa, he attaches great importance to him.
Later, because of various obstacles, he was forced to leave the old monk's side. This fate was temporarily, and the fate of being close to him came to an end temporarily.But our Fa is the same. This is a pure land that specializes in meditation. The inheritance of the Fa line cannot be interrupted. It is not necessary to be close to the teacher and to be with you, and to be with you is not necessarily a person who is really studying the Fa.
It’s just that because of various factors, all factors are very good for me. They are all arranged by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Without this factor, I would not be able to go to Hong Kong’s Lantau Island to get close to an oracle. The senior monks are all in our old monks. The above one is very respected and respected in the Buddhist world, our precept monk-the upper saint and the next old master.
Because of this cause, under his seat, in the Baolin Temple, he really started from being a monk, starting from the identity of the novice niche in the jungle, among the more than one hundred monks among the masses, and began to be polished and polished brightly. of.A bhikkhuni once told me that if a monk has not been rubbed in the jungle when he was in a small crowd, it would be like a man who has not been a soldier. It will always taste a little bit. A bhikshuni said it, and later I also deeply felt it, especially some people who became a monk before becoming a monk at a very old age, and once they became a monk, they went to the ashram by themselves.
It hasn’t been five years or ten years that the Sangha’s training has been done, so you just changed your monk’s clothes, and you’ve changed your temperament. There’s no change in your temperament.It must be among the public, through the Buddha's precepts, the precepts formulated by the Buddha are honed for a long time in life, transforming the temperament into a monkhood, no matter the length of time, there must be this process, so this to me, What a great arrangement.

In the society, we don’t have this cause, because the cause of the society, the old monk’s wish, is to spread the Fa throughout the world, especially for the introduction of lay priests, special attention, so the objective conditions of the sangha we learned, right The monks are not so complete.For me, this is really the best arrangement for Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If there are no obstacles, I have to leave the school, and I cannot leave. When the old monk asked me if I wanted to go to Australia, I actually didn’t I would really like to go. We just want to get close to the old monk and study the Fa.
In fact, the old monk, the most often staying in Hong Kong, why would I want to put myself in Australia?
