Dear fellow practitioners, good evening, Amitabha!
Last night we learned the core of this sutra, that is, the eighteenth of the forty-eight vows. As long as we can truly master this core practice and have a true faith in reciting the Buddha, we will surely be able to become a Buddha in this life and truly be able to rely on ten. The practice of the Eight Wishes is in line with the purpose of this sutra, to develop bodhicitta and always concentrate on mindfulness. In other words, people who truly believe in and eagerly wish to recite the Buddha must always concentrate on mindfulness and will never double mind. Therefore, Master Shandao gave us instructions, if not The method has always been to concentrate on the practice of mixed practice, so that the rebirth may be uncertain. Master Shandao has a teaching he said: "Heavenly happiness does not do Nirvana. It is difficult to live with mixed goodness. Therefore, the Tathagata chooses the Dharma and teaches Amitabha. Specialized and specialized." This discourse is very important.
What we have heard two days ago has been centered on the eighteenth vow. Indeed, our practice is very simple. As long as we sincerely vow to accept Amitabha’s aspiration for salvation, each of us can achieve in this life, but Although it is simple, it is necessary to truly fulfill the condition of fulfilling one's faith and wish, and the three-supply food for rebirth. How can it be considered to be fulfilled?Appearance in behavior is specialization, so special thoughts are always very important. Master Shandao reminds us here that the realm of bliss is the realm of inaction, and the realm of inaction is the realm of the Buddha's self-evidence. In this way, the realm of pure inaction is mixed Goodness and fear are hard to reproduce. If we are still cultivating and practicing miscellaneous practices, it means that our minds are impure, and there is no way to perceive Amitabha, and there is no way to perceive it. How can we be born into the land of Buddha if we are just ordinary people?Rebirth is entirely dependent on Amitabha Buddha’s guidance, and his willingness to bless it. If we are not respectful and sincere, then there is no way to follow Amitabha Buddha, so we are afraid that it will be difficult to live.
"Therefore, the Tathagata chooses the teachings and teaches Amitabha to concise and resume special teachings." This principle refers to the eighteen vows, which tells us to always concentrate. This is the purpose of this sutra. Not only should we be specialized but also more specialized, this specialized The meaning of complex is very deep. Later, we will use the teaching of Master Shandao to give you a further analysis of what is special and what is miscellaneous. We usually work hard and don’t know whether we are specialized or miscellaneous, and we even decide on homework. I don’t know how to decide, so this part of Master Shandao is very detailed. Master Shandao categorizes special and miscellaneous standards for us. Master Yinguang also mentioned a comment on Master Shandao’s sub-judgment in Wenchao. He said "The monk Shandao is a metamorphosis of Amitabha, has great wisdom, and has great supernatural powers. It shows that he specializes in miscellaneous cultivation, and its benefits are endless. Specialization is called body karma, ritual, oral karma, and mind karma. If so, he will be born in the West. There is nothing wrong with one, mixed cultivation and various methods to return to the yearning for life, because the heart is not pure, so it is hard to benefit, then a hundred sects are rare, and those who die three or four in a thousand are rare. This golden mouth is sincere, and it is not easy through the ages. The iron case is also.".
This is Master Yinguang’s instruction. He praised Master Shandao as the metamorphosis of Amitabha. He has great supernatural powers and great wisdom. Then the standard of specialization, miscellaneous and second cultivation that he revealed, for us who practice the Pure Land Method, this is this The benefit is great, and it allows us to grasp it with precision. If we practice miscellaneous practice, we may not be able to die. Master Yinguang also said that if we are miscellaneous practice, we will also practice various methods and then return to yearning for rebirth. , Zen, and mantra. Because of impure oneness, pureness is also a kind of sincerity, without respect. I think it’s good to cultivate one bit, or to cultivate one bit, just like when we make friends, you say you like it today. This person, and then another one tomorrow, another one over there, then this mind is not pure and impure, it is sure that this mind is false, there is no sincerity, so it is very difficult to benefit, miscellaneous cultivators are rare. How does Master Shandao make judgments? He judged that there are five right actions, five right actions, and correct practice. These five right actions belong to specialization. The so-called right actions are those who are dedicated to the practice of rebirth, which refers to the theory of three sutras and one theory. The "Blessed Life Sutra", "Amitabha Sutra", and "The Sutra of Amitabha Sutra" all belong to the right way. Outside of these three sutras, they are not part of the right way. So the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" that we learned before is all right. It's very corresponding. There were a lot of people when reciting the Ksitigarbha Scriptures. Now they are slowly changing careers. This is also a transitional period.But please don’t forget, our goal is not to go to hell to save sentient beings, not to help the Earth Store Bodhisattva to save sentient beings. We are going to the Paradise Bodhisattva to become a Buddha. This must be clear, because the Earth Store Bodhisattva expresses filial piety and expresses great wishes. We In the Four Hong Vows, sentient beings have boundless vows to make a big vow first, so this is the foundation, the foundation.
To become a Buddha, life is also fundamental, so the fundamental foundation of life lies in filial piety. This is the expression of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, so the old monk also taught us that the establishment of a new dojo must first lay these foundations, so we abbot Master Master Yamato followed the teachings and helped everyone to lay the foundation, but the foundation was too stable, and the foundation was too deep. Everyone is very responsive to this "Ksitigarbha Sutra", so you may also need to change it. For a period of time, but as long as we really often revise our Pure Land Three Sutras, and naturally, when the cause and condition are mature, and in that moment corresponding to Amitabha, you can naturally transform.
So what we heard about the Five Classics, and the "Pu Xian Xing Yuan Pin" and "Yuan Tong Zhang", these two sutras are actually a fate. Its real theory is not the theory of the Pure Land Method. "Pu Xian Xing Yuan Pin" "" talks about the methods and theories of "Hua Yan Sutra". "Hua Yan Sutra" is all-encompassing. It is not just for cultivating pure land. All the methods are included. Meditating and mantras are all included in the "Hua Yan Sutra". Therefore, it’s impossible for Master Shandao to judge this part as positive action. This part is included by Lay Wei Yuan. It has this function to enhance our confidence and see that Samantabhadra can return to the world of bliss for survival. We don't dare to underestimate the Pure Land Method. It's this function, and it does have this function.
Our old monk Li Bingnan has been persuading him for many years. In fact, he has chanted Buddhism in his mouth, and he has not been willing to specialize in this method in his heart. Because of the qualifications of an old monk, he likes to read books, so he likes to study the teachings. It is monotonous, and the general misunderstanding of the Pure Land Method is that the old Bodhisattva cultivated, so it is difficult to specialize at once, but it is fine to read it. It is really not that honest to specialize. He has been teaching this "Hua Yan Sutra" by himself, and it seems that he has talked about ten. In eight years, one day suddenly became enlightened. After realizing this part of enlightenment, he realized: "Wow, this Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, wait for the enlightenment Bodhisattva to return to the Pure Land of Survival." At this time, he really didn’t. Dare to take it lightly, and have this recognition of the Pure Land Method again.
In the past, the old monk liked the "Hua Yan Sutra" because it is recognized as a great sutra in Buddhism, so the old monk really devoted himself to the pure land method through the "Hua Yan Sutra Samantabhadra". The expression of Samantabhadra was introduced, and it does have the effect of this fate, but we don’t want to learn the theory to respect the Buddhas, and the first wish of Samantabhadra pays homage to them. Buddha, there are ten vows in total. We couldn't do the first vow. This was cultivated by the Dharmakaya priest. We don't even have a place to start. How can you pay homage to the Buddhas?Everyone is a Buddha. Now we see the Buddha and treat him as an ordinary man. Our minds are not pure. Therefore, we cannot cultivate with this method. We are toward this goal. This is the highest standard of bodhisattva behavior. So we have to figure it out.
The "Yuantong Chapter" is a chapter in the "Srangama Sutra". Master Yinguang proposed to include it in the five sutras. The intention is to persuade us to learn from the general trend to the Bodhisattva in depth, that is, what we are going to talk about now is to specialize. There is a way to die, this is the key!Specialization can show that we are truly faithful and willing, and we have always dedicated our minds, so that we truly have the condition of true faith and aspiration to rebirth. Therefore, the so-called specialization here is that the so-called specialization is only in accordance with the Pure Land Three Sutras. Others can be referred to as aids. This range is in these three sutras.

The five kinds of right actions, how are we going to hold these three sutras?Master Shandao said, reading, observing, worshiping, naming, admiring and offering, these five are all possible. We need to use the chanting of reading. Observation is to follow the text to observe. It is not for us to practice insight and concentration, but for us. When chanting, we can observe the description inside, the solemnity and solemnity of the world of bliss, all kinds of superb cultivation of cause and effect, careful observation, and worship, to worship the Buddha, the name is to recite the Buddha by name, and admire offerings. We believe in ourselves, and we must persuade others to believe and be held in circulation.
These five are all part of specialization. These five righteous actions are like many practitioners today who participate in the three-time system of thoughts. This three-time system of thoughts almost contains these five righteous behaviors, and there are more, and some Singing praises, in fact, singing praises can also be equivalent to admiring the part of offering, so the practice of the three-time system also belongs to the scope of specialization, and does not depart from the realm of the Pure Land Sutra theory, but this is a more general direction to judge, and further Master Shandao further subdivided it from these five positive actions. The right karma is also called aiding karma. The right karma is also called positive definite karma. There is also aiding karma. Karma is secondary. Which of the five is more important?That is Zhengding Karma, and the others are auxiliary.
If we understand this part of it, we will know how to set our homework. The so-called right concentration karma, have the fellow practitioners guessed it?Of course, it is the name, reciting the Buddha by name. Master Shandao said in a passage: "Concentrate on reciting the name of Amitabha, walking, staying, sitting and lying, regardless of the time period. Those who do not give up are the karma of righteous concentration, follow the wishes of the other Buddha. "The last sentence is very important. Why is it so important to recite the Buddha by name? It is called rectification karma, because "Success to the wish of the Buddha." This Buddha refers to Amitabha, which Amitabha has agreed with us. This is a signal to interact with him. , The most important signal.
So let's not be smart. Oh, I want to cultivate this well and that is good. The best thing is to listen directly to the Buddha's words, so that it will be easy to interact with each other.Just like us, we want to take this ferry from Indonesia to Singapore. Do we want to buy ferry tickets?This is the case here. You have to buy a ferry ticket before you can take the ferry, but you just have to be different from others. Oh, I give you a lot of cash. This can pay the ferry fee, and the ferry ticket fee can also be added. Tips, but can I get on board this way?No, I'll still collect the ticket with you. Oh, don't you want to say that I have more money and give more, which is more than the value of the ticket. That is what we think, people just ask for the ticket.
Therefore, no matter what method we study, especially the Pure Land Method, because it is XNUMX% dependent on the power of the Buddha, we must be obedient, honestly able to benefit, often think a lot of wisdom, and also work very hard and work hard, and the result is half the result. There is a lot of futile effort and a lot of work was done in vain. It is because of disobedience, so this sentence is very important, "Success to the Buddha's wish." As long as we recite the Buddha by name, it does not matter whether we chant a voice or not. It means to be famous. Oh, the name of the name, this is the most important practice of the right concentration karma among the five positive actions, so we have to work hard for five hours a day, and it is best to recite the Buddha for five hours.
But maybe some fellow practitioners like to worship the Buddha, like the sutras, and they can recite while worshiping. This is relatively unaffected. Some of them prefer to chant the sutras. Don’t spend too much time on the chanting. You can also recite, but don’t. Too much, not to exceed the Buddha's title. This is better. If you are not used to it at the beginning, you can adjust it slowly. We know that there is a standard. Know it first and then adjust it slowly.In addition to naming names, the other worshiping and chanting of the Buddha belong to karma, which is optional. The old monk also said that you really want to have a strong desire to be born, and you must die in this life. Buddha, at this time you just need to be honest with one Buddha name. All the sutras, including the "Pure Land Sutra", can be put down, and the truth is here.
Because the name of naming is in line with Amitabha’s original intention. He told us to do this. This is another subjudgment in the Five Straight Lines Specialization. Then in addition to the Five Straight Lines, the "Pure Land Three Sutras" All of them are miscellaneous. "Pu Xian Xing Yuan Pin" and "Yuan Tong Zhang" can help us to enhance this confidence and guide us to specialize. This can be such a reference. The real theoretical basis and practice must be based on The three sutras, this belongs to the Zhengyi sutra, the Zhengyi sutra of our Pure Land Method.

The key to achievement is that if we practice according to the "eighteen vows" is to break into the mind of the Buddha, just like the enlightenment taught in Zen, we suddenly enter into it. According to the "eighteen vows", it is the break into the pure land method. Entering the mind of the Buddha corresponds to the Buddha Amitabha. In the current realm, although we are still mortal, sinful, life and death, our inner realm and the realm of Amitabha are already merged into one, and it seems to be the same as the Buddha.
This is incredible. If it is based on other wishes, or based on this self-reliant practice and miscellaneous practice, this is a gradual practice. Gradually rely on self-cultivation, gradually accumulate this merit, and then return to it. This is gradual cultivation and gradual correction. This benefit is very small. It is not easy to be able to die. There is such a difference, so we must know that in the "Forty-Eight Vows", our second ancestor of the Jingzong Master Shandao has pointed out to us Now, this wish is the most important.
In a few days, when we will talk about the "Sixth Product", we will give you an introduction, and list the various practices of rebirth in the "forty-eight vows." I put it forward for you to do an analysis and reference. Everyone knows that this is very different. It is also in the "forty-eight vows". The vows made by Amitabha Buddha have different foundations. Therefore, he put forward several standards. There is a big difference between difficult and easy.
Then, if we people with deep roots, we will naturally understand the corresponding "eighteenth wish", which is simple and easy, achievement is also stable and fast, and tens of thousands of people to go, it is really in line with this ancient virtue. The characteristics of the Pure Land Method described are not contradictory at all, and they are completely in line with each other. So how do we get into this part of the practice?How to rise up true faith and be willing to interact with Amitabha?This one needs guidance, and it is very difficult for us to get into it for a while, and we can't rush it.
You have to wait for the season and fate. Just like the old monk Xuyun, how did he become enlightened? He walked more than XNUMX kilometers, walked, and walked more than XNUMX kilometers. After years of asceticism, one day he accidentally practiced Zen Seven. People poured him a cup of hot water for him. The hot water was not poured well, and he accidentally burned his hands. In that moment, he realized his great enlightenment. Our Pure Land method also needs great enlightenment, and enlightenment, enlightenment, how to enlightenment?It also takes time and fate, and it usually accumulates. How can this accumulation accumulate?We must follow Master Shan, who has many teachings to guide us.
For example, there is a mage whose name I forgot. I read this information a long time ago. He also knows that he must be true to his wishes, recite the Buddha, and interact with Amitabha, but he doesn’t feel that profound, so what should I do? ?Oh, don’t worry. On the one hand, recite the Buddha honestly, and on the other hand, he heard the scriptures and the teachings. Suddenly one day, he saw that the Daxiong Hall is under construction. We know that in the mainland, looking at that big temple, the building of the Daxiong Hall, its height may be as high as the building. There are two and three floors, so high, at least two floors, so if the building is high, the pillars in the middle must be very large and thick.
One day when he passed by the Daxiong Hall under construction, he suddenly saw the workers under construction. They didn’t look very good one by one, they didn’t look good, but there was a way to put such a thick one in the Daxiong Hall. Liangzhu, big beam, hang it up, of course someone has professional skills, but in a scene at that moment, he suddenly realized that, he really suddenly felt that even an ordinary ordinary man, We can't even think of how to do such a thing, how to do it, everyone can do it, ordinary people can do it, hang this beam and column, such a thick beam and column.
Then Amitabha's supernatural powers and wisdom, and he is the king of the Buddha, can it be impossible to do a trivial thing?At that moment, in that situation, in contrast, a small worker, an uneducated person, such an inconspicuous person, even such a project, he or the mage himself would not do such a project. It is very difficult for him. Such an inconspicuous person can accomplish such a difficult task, let alone Amitabha.
At that moment, he had no doubts at all, and he believed XNUMX% of Amitabha’s "forty-eight vows" in every vow, especially the matter of rebirth, because we must die first, and the other forty-seven vows can be obtained. , So he has confidence in his death right now, XNUMX% without doubts, no worries, and no worries that he will not be able to die, because he is relying on the power of Buddha.

Suddenly, that confidence really comes into your heart, and at that time you will be very moved. From then on, you will often cry easily, and that feeling will deepen day by day. At this time, it is really like the kind of Zen Buddhism, the kind after the Great Enlightenment is like a person drinking water, knowing it is cold or warm.
Of course, the standard of our Pure Land Method is relatively low, which means that as long as we can interact with Amitabha, it is not our own merit, but the same is that we also get a XNUMX% sense of liberation, because we are sure that we will become a Buddha in this life. Well, it's just that the difference is still decades, a little bit of time.The great enlightenment of Zen Buddhism is the instant enlightenment to Buddhahood, its kind of realm of Buddhahood, the sense of liberation is just like becoming a Buddha, but his body is still incomplete, so there is a realm like this.
What you may know about Master Shandao is the introduction of some fragments, so I will introduce it to you a little bit. If we can have a more comprehensive understanding of Master Shandao, we will be able to build confidence in his teachings. It is very important that we are confident that we can immediately follow the teachings as soon as we hear it.Master Shandao was from the Tang Dynasty. He was born in XNUMX AD and died in XNUMX. The emperor at that time called him, and they all called him a bright monk, because he uttered a light when he chanted a Buddha's name.
As far as the thirteen ancestors of the Jingzong are concerned, no one is more superior than his manifested supernatural powers. He often manifests supernatural powers, which is very incredible, and he is not a small supernatural power. The emperor knows him, and the monastery where he lives gave him... His plaque is called Guangming Temple. Can you imagine it?Let's recite a Buddha's name: Nanwu Amitabha, a light will come out, and you don't need a flashlight to walk at night. As long as you recite the Buddha's name, the whole road will be bright.
Our fifth ancestor of the Jingzong-Master Shaokang, is known as Hou Shandao. Why is it called Hou Shandao?Because he said a Buddha's name, a Buddha appeared in his mouth, wow!People say that he came again after Master Shandao passed away, so he called Hou Shandao, because no one showed such supernatural powers like the two of them. The other ancestors didn’t have them. The thirteen ancestors were the only ones, so Master Shaokang was still the master of Shandao. Yes, because Zen was particularly prevalent at that time, because the human roots were more favorable in the past, and you can be enlightened by participating in Zen.
Therefore, many people who study Buddhism don’t care very much. There was a cause for this. Master Shandao wanted to attract and save the master Shaokang. It happened that Master Shaokang respected the virtues of Master Shandao. Master Shaokang later wrote a book. The book praises Master Shandao for being the holy virtue of Zen masters since the east spread of Dharma. The Dharma has been introduced to China. No one can compare to him with so many profound virtues. This kind of admiration is incredible, because he is Amitabha. Come on, of course no one can compare to him, it's really not too much, this kind of admiration.
How did Master Shandao lead him?One time Master Shaokang was also very famous. He visited his shadow hall, which is the memorial hall. After visiting the memorial hall, of course, he would have to bow to the Dharma. When he bowed and watched, Master Shandao actually walked from his portrait. When he came out, he showed this kind of supernatural power. After he came out, his body was bright. After he came out, he was originally his form, and then he became the form of Amitabha.
Master Shaokang saw this scene from beginning to end, so it was only later. This Gude recognized that he was Amitabha’s return with the wish. There are various miracles as the basis. This is not just casual talk, so he is showing.
