Dear Master Yamato is merciful!Dear fellow practitioners of great virtue!Good evening, everybody.Amitabha!
Yesterday we talked about the method for the real and rapid implementation of Liuhejing, which is to start from the heart, through the induction and communication with Amitabha, and truly receive the blessings of the Buddha, you can transform your body and mind at the moment. In this way, not only Liuhe Jingzi can naturally enter into it, and even if we want to become a Buddha in this life, we can confidently decide at the moment.
Today we are going to start learning the main meaning of the Sutra of Boundless Life. The so-called main meaning is the core meaning hidden in the text, that is, the implication.If we study the scriptures only focusing on the words, there is often no way to appreciate the Buddha's mind. How can we easily appreciate the Buddha's mind? Through the study of the scriptures, there is only one key point to truly grasp the Buddha's true feelings, and that is Start with respect.
Master Yin Guang said: "One point is sincere respect and one point is benefit; very sincere respect is very benefit." This respect is very important.No matter which sutra or method we study, as long as we are truly respectful, no matter how bad our roots are, we will definitely be able to enlighten ourselves.On the contrary, if we have an incorrect mindset for learning, even if we have a very familiar grasp of the scriptures, we won't get any benefit from learning, so we should talk to fellow practitioners about the mindset for learning before learning.
In the time of the Buddha, there was a koan. When the Blessed One was alive, he usually went outside to beg alms on the day of the day, but sometimes there were laymen who came to the sangha or asked the mage to come to the house to make offerings.Once the Blessed One led all his disciples to the palace to make offerings, the Sangha only left a novice monk who had just become a monk. He was very old, probably in his seventies.So that day, there happened to be a female layman who wanted to ask a mage to come to the house to make an offering, but unfortunately, the only teacher left in the Sangha was the teacher and father, who seemed to be very practiced because of her old age.The female layman was also very respectful and insisted on asking the master to come home to make a confession.So this teacher-father pushed half-and-half. He couldn't push and he had to keep all sentient beings. So he was very anxious along the way and thought, "It's miserable! After the meal is finished, I still have to teach others what I just shaved. I don't understand, what should I do later?" I was very nervous along the way, but until the meal was over, the female layman knelt and folded her hands very respectfully and asked the mage to teach.At this time, there is no other way but to face it. As for the monks, of course, you can't lie. At this time, I have to tell him frankly: "I will tell you directly! I have no law to tell you."If ordinary people hear this, a reaction is like "Ah! You are so old, and after a long period of cultivation, you can't teach me the law? The cultivation is too bad, right!" This is a reaction of ordinary people of us.But this female layman was very respectful. In her eyes, the Three Treasures, no matter how long they have been ordained, and no matter how long they have been ordained, are a role model for her to learn, because they believe that as long as they can truly become ordained, they are all the deep roots of goodwill in the world. Beings have better roots and are very respectful to the Three Jewels, so when she heard this, she immediately thought of the scriptures on the Diamond Sutra: "It cannot be said." The Diamond Sutra just says "Everything is like "Dream bubble", "Diamond Sutra" also says "If the Blessed One has something to say, then it is slandering the Buddha." Because her respectful heart made him listen very attentively at the moment, but he just heard the sentence "I can't say" and he immediately entered into it. The realm of the Diamond Sutra.This kind of situation is mainly because she has sufficient causes for accepting the Fa, especially her mentality of Fa-study without the slightest doubt. A doubt is that karma is before the appearance, which blocks your enlightenment.She didn’t have the slightest suspicion. In addition, she usually read the Diamond Sutra a little bit, but the Diamond Sutra is not so easy to understand. So as long as we have a sincere and respectful mentality of seeking the Dharma at any time, we will be in a certain way. Suddenly fell into the situation.
This koan shows that whether we can get the meaning of the law depends entirely on our attitude toward the law. Indeed, this old novice has no law at all, and he just didn't understand anything.This is the koan recorded in this Hinayana sutra. The four agars often record the Buddha's saving sentient beings at that time. It is very humane, and many points are worthy of our reference.

In the "Guan Jing", the chapter of Shangpin Shangsheng said that as long as the rebirth of the world of bliss has three minds, one can surely rebirth, and it is the Shangsheng of Shangpin. These three hearts are "sincere heart, deep heart, and aspiring heart".Here we also talk about sincerity, what kind of respect and sincerity should we learn?The so-called sincere heart is the true heart, sincere, we don’t want to hear the sincerity and think, oops! The sincerity that is born with a thought is nothing for us!No, we fellow practitioners must remember that the Three Sutras of the Pure Land are a special method for ordinary people. It must be logical and reasonable according to the standards that ordinary people can achieve! We can't do it. What does he teach this sutra? Therefore, the sincere heart and true heart here are not false.In our ordinary people, we truly say that we can achieve this sincerity, we can have it, for example, we will come back to listen to the sutra tomorrow, really? Really!This is sincere. You really did not lie when you came. If you say it is done, this is sincere!It's that simple! Are we really going to Elysium? We really want to go!No matter what the situation does not change this mind, this is true. It doesn't have to be until no thoughts are born, then you are a saint, and the standards of a saint can only be achieved, so the sincerity mentioned here is the standard that we ordinary people can do.
Master Shandao has given us a very clear explanation. Let me read a passage: "The sincere person, all sentient beings have their body, speech, mind and karma, and the practice and deeds must be true and heartfelt.Don't show virtuous and diligent appearance outside, and conceal falsehood inside.Greed, hatred and hypocrisy, treacherous one hundred endorsements, vicious and hard to invade, things are the same as snakes and scorpions.Although there are three karma, it is called the goodness of miscellaneous drugs, it is also called the deed of falsehood, and it is not the real karma.If you are such a person who starts with peace of mind, even if you are struggling to encourage your body and mind, at XNUMX o'clock in the day and night, you will be anxious, like a person who burns the head of the moxibustion, and is known as the goodness of mixed poison.Those who want to return to this miscellaneous poisonous journey and live in the Pure Land of the Buddha must do this. 』
This passage is the teaching of Master Shandao. Here, it is said that the body, mouth, mind and karma must be done from the true heart.We listen to the sutras, we recite the Buddha, and no matter how much we understand, we count, don't pretend to understand or don't understand.When reciting the Buddha, we try to be as honest as possible, with every steadfast thought, steadfast thoughts from the heart.Instead of pretending that someone is watching, just read it with special attention and read it to others. This is the appearance of virtuous and diligent work.Having this kind of appearance, of course, is a falsehood inside, an untrue and hypocritical heart, and this motive is not pure.In this case, our ordinary beings will appear if we are not careful, so Master Shandao reminds us that this intention is very important, and we must use our sincerity to recite the name of the Buddha.The deep heart is the heart of conviction and the sincere dedication. With these three hearts, you will definitely be able to rebirth in the blissful world, and there is no problem in the pure land. What's more, we can also get benefits by learning other teachings.
We have a public case, and fellow practitioners are very familiar with it. Yu Jingyi and Yu Jingyi have done a lot of deeds and virtues throughout his life. It can be said that he set up a dojo with some colleagues, and he often gives lectures on the scriptures and advocates this to the public. According to Confucianism, it can be regarded as doing good deeds and accumulating virtue, propagating the Dharma for a lifetime, and advocating free life and writing characters. These are all very good kindness.However, fellow practitioners are very clear about his karma and retribution during his life. He is a scholar and has good academic character. We usually think that this person looks good, and it shouldn't be so bad, but it really is. The result is so miserable.Everyone knows this koan. Needless to say, it can be said that it was almost at home and died, without meals, so miserable.He is the most typical example. It just shows that his intentions are not pure, his intentions are not sincere or true, so insincere is not true, the opposite is false, false results will of course have evil consequences, it is better to be stupid. The stupid chanting of Buddhism is good.
This method is completely blessed by the power of Buddha. As long as we don't have a false mind, we don't have to be very sincere and respectful.Some old bodhisattvas do not necessarily understand, but as long as he is honestly thinking, he can feel the blessings of the Buddha power. Once he feels the blessings of the Buddha power, you will naturally have a sincere heart, deep heart, and aspirational heart in your reading. If you have enough, you can die.So this intention is very important, sincere and respectful of seeking the Dharma, with this intention, you are a Dharma tool.No matter what the method is, whether you understand it or not, as long as you listen to it once, the Alaya Consciousness will have an impression. In the future, the seed will sprout and it will bear fruit.

In October of this year, at the end of September and October, I was invited to Wuhan, mainland China to participate in a Buddha Seven. Among the Buddha Seven, I taught for two hours a day.Well, it’s very rare for a master to lecture there in Wuhan, and it’s also because Master Bhikkhu invited me to go. Our senior is very busy and has four monasteries to take care of. So although he can give lectures, he doesn’t have time to do so. Talk to us juniors.
At that time, there were more than 300 people who participated in the Seventh Buddha, and everyone was very diligent and hardworking. Then I think the cause of the Fa-study of fellow practitioners is so enthusiastic, I have to persuade them, because at that time the main meaning of the Amitabha Sutra was completely locked in a lifetime. The establishment of the confidence that can be reborn, and the establishment of this confidence right now, are all locked in the core education of faith, willingness, and deeds.So because there are only seven days in time, and I don’t know when to go next time, I especially encourage them to seize the opportunity as soon as possible, and relatives and friends must persuade them to come and listen.Maybe beginners, because what we are talking about is aimed at those who have already made a vow to help fellow practitioners build confidence. New learners may sometimes not understand it. This is inevitable.But even if I don’t understand, I planted a seed, which is a diamond seed, and it will definitely become a Buddha in the future.So after listening to many practitioners, many of the practitioners in Mainland China have good roots and are honest. After going back immediately, many people, this family and friends informed them that there was a sudden increase in the number of elderly and children with their families, and they all came to worship Buddha as they pleased. Seven, some people come to listen to the scriptures on a special trip, one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. There are especially many people when listening to the scripture.
One of them came to Wuhan by air from Qinghai for six hours. A surnamed Du, Du Lao Shi, XNUMX years old, so eager to seek the law.His hometown is in Xiaogan, Wuhan. The place where we teach the scriptures, but there is no one in his hometown. Some distant relatives have no place to live. He came back by plane and then stayed in the hotel. After listening to the scriptures, he flew back.It's rare for people to seek the Fa like this!In fact, in mainland China, there are not many opportunities to hear the scriptures and the Fa, but there are many Fa conferences.So they cherish it very much, and because of such sincerity, after I got to know, I also introduced some of our fellow Singaporeans. Even if we agreed to send him a magic weapon in the future, he also formed a good bond.So you can feel what kind of fruit is what you send!At that time, I heard that he was also full of joy every day.
Not long ago, I was in Johor Bahru, Million Town Jingzong Society, and Skudai Jingzong Society for ten consecutive days, and there were ten consecutive days of lectures in these two places.A fellow practitioner had heard it when I came six months ago.At that time, I heard that this fellow practitioner was an old cultivator. He was a very young cultivator for more than XNUMX years. He was educated in English. He was the boss of a company, young and promising, very educated, and very Gentleman. Old Xiu, once participated in Zen and practiced mantras.However, later, I specialized in Pure Land, focusing on Yuantongzhang, focusing on the practice, and he was a person with very good roots.However, he did feel weak after studying for more than XNUMX years.So when he came here half a year ago, he was able to get into this realm immediately, so this trip came again.When he saw the poster himself, he drove from his home to Skudai, reporting every day for more than an hour, and then to Million Town, reporting every day, no shortage for ten consecutive days.
The cause of the Million Town was also very special. It can be said that the audience's enthusiasm was unprecedented. There are many practitioners in Million Town, because now in many places, the atmosphere of listening to the scriptures and the Fa is really getting more and more sluggish.Everyone likes the hustle and bustle of the Fa conference, and it's hard to listen to it and build up a little confidence. After a while, the confidence doesn't know where it went.It's because you don't enter deeply, the Dhamma doesn't enter deeply, and there is no way to cultivate for a long time. This is a common phenomenon.But the situation this time is really different. It can be said that it is unprecedented. Even some old repairs in the finance of Million Town come to listen every day, not one day is absent, and they have never listened to them in the past.So there was a very special situation that time. There were twenty or thirty people sitting on Dongdan’s side of the male group. There were five days for the female group. One of them was special. The day before, it happened to be in the forty-eight vows. The country has no women's wishes. I don’t want to talk about it. I want to make it clear when I talk about it. It is really unbearable to talk about women’s habits. A little closer to this, I am a woman myself, but let me tell the truth!Women’s habits, we can see the eighty-four feminine forms. I haven’t talked about that much yet, just to name a few.

For example, the scripture says that as long as there are women, there is hell. This is what the scripture says. This is not what I said. Then I count the women one by one, but the next day all the women ran away, leaving two or three. .The situation on that day was very strange. The men were full of guests, and there had never been so many people. It was just the opposite of the general situation in the Buddhist halls.Generally speaking, there are two or three male people in the Buddhist hall, and then the female people are full of guests. As a result, the opposite happened that day, and the male audience was very happy with the Dharma.Because most of them are old cultivators, and they can really get into the heart of this Fa. Our Fa is easy to get into by fools from the upper roots and the lower, and these people are the upper roots and old cultivators.So I heard a smell when I reported every day, and then one of the staff members comforted me and said, "Maybe you said yesterday that Guowu Women said too much, so be merciful!" I said!I said it’s okay, I just followed, but fortunately, I came back again a day later.What does this show?It is true that women have heavy karma, even if they want to listen to the scriptures, they still have obstacles. It may not be convenient to go out. There may be special programs that day, or something. Maybe the women are very busy and everyone hasn't come.So in that situation, wow!It's really special.
It is not easy for ordinary men to respond to this method so much, but once they respond, he just talked about this young boss, and it was him who told me some of his experience.He was originally specialized in Yuantongzhang, and he practiced "all the six roots of pure thoughts one after another."He felt that after cultivating for a long time, there was no way to take all the six roots, and the pure thoughts would follow one another.But when you receive the blessings of the Buddha power, you feel that your mind is stable after you interact with Amitabha Buddha. You don't have to deliberately take the six faculties, you can take them naturally, and naturally you will miss the Buddha and your thoughts will follow one another.He suddenly felt that way, and he fell into that realm.
He told me, is such a situation correct? I said: "This is inevitable. Your heart is at peace. You have received the best blessings. Your six sense elements are either Dharma or even the mortal world. You are no longer interested in all kinds of things. There is nothing happier than this Fa Le. Your six faculties are naturally taken, so do you need to talk about it? I am afraid that you can’t feel it, and you can’t get in.” Then he really did. I am very happy, and I also made my own effort to help us with the English translation of the CD.Because he speaks Chinese very poorly, but maybe in the future he can also devote himself to speaking in English to attract some foreigners.Our method believes that many foreigners can also respond easily, because the faith is a little bit similar to the Christian faith in God, and a little bit similar.Look at the fanaticism of other Christians in believing in God, that kind of XNUMX% trust and acceptance, the only true God, there is no doubt.
Christians usually seem to be very happy, and their body and mind are very soft, but the difference is that they may not benefit as much as ours.But they are indeed able to get considerable benefits in the part of human beings and heavens.Christians, you see that their church atmosphere is very good, it is because of their kind of faith, faith in God is very sincere, they can not doubt God’s wisdom, they really regard God as the supreme god. Kind of respect and admiration.So if we have the opportunity to translate this method into English, and even someone will explain it, I will tell him: "I don't understand English." I said to him, "You have your heart to translate into English. If someone wants to ask in the future, you I just made a wish to explain and save the foreigner for you."
This method is likely to be spread to Western countries. If, through the teachings of this master master, you can receive the blessings of the Buddha from the perspective of believing in Amitabha, and start from the perspective of faith, then Westerners can indeed accept it.If you teach him to practice Kungfu, recitation of Buddhism and Samadhi, he might as well meditate and practice meditation and mantras. Nowadays, meditation mantras are very popular in Western countries and they will be more attractive to them.Then this belief is a characteristic of a universal religion, so there are a lot of potential objects waiting for us to introduce this method to them.
Then the old monks often said that the Christian God is his father.Shizun is a teacher, this is not contradictory.Moreover, the nature of this belief is very similar, and I believe that it can also draw a lot of attention to them, then this is an infinite merit, not just limited to the Chinese community.

Next, let’s talk about the purpose of the "Blessed Life Sutra". The purpose of this sutra is not unfamiliar to fellow practitioners. "To develop Bodhicitta, always pay attention to it." The three generations mentioned in the scripture must meet this requirement. Those who have passed away in the next generation must "have bodhichitta and always pay attention to it."To develop bodhicitta, the explanation of the Patriarch Tanluan is: "Wish to be the heart of the Buddha, and be willing to save the people to become the heart of the Buddha." This explanation is very clear. If you follow the standard of the Taoist method, it is "to seek the way of the Buddha, and to transform all living beings."Then it is more straightforward to return to the Pure Land Method. What is the purpose of "going up to Buddhism"? "Wish to be a Buddha", we want to become a Buddha, so Patriarch Tanluan explained clearly in this way.We may be relatively unfamiliar with the Patriarch Tanluan, but the old layman Huang Nianzu is very upset with Patriarch Tanluan.There is also a Zen Master Dao Chuo. The two of them are truly pure land thoughts and have a relationship between the Dharma lineage.From Nagarjuna Bodhisattva, Tianqin Bodhisattva, then Tanluan Patriarch, Tao Chuo Zen Master, to Master Shandao, our Pure Land thought is inherited by the Dharma.Nagarjuna Bodhisattva is the ancestor of the eight sects, and is known as the second one of Sakyamuni, who is also the person who returned by Buddha Shakyamuni.His method, Mahayana, our eight schools in China belong to the Mahayana method, and the eight schools share the same ancestor, so he is the ancestor of Mahayana, and all schools and schools call him the first ancestor.In other words, His Dharma is the inheritance of the Blessed One, from the Hinayana to the Mahayana, then the source of our Pure Land thoughts, the Dharma vein is very clear.
But fellow practitioners had never heard of these two ancestors before. That's because how did the XNUMX ancestors of our Pure Land Sect come from?It doesn't come from the inheritance of thoughts, unlike Zen that requires ancestors to pass on from one's ancestors to one another before passing on to you, or to recognize you as a method.The thirteen ancestors of the Pure Land Sect were not. They were completely based on his contribution to the life of the Pure Land Method. Of course, his own virtues were mainly due to his contributions, so they were publicly recommended and recommended by later generations.

So as far as the academic world is concerned, when we read the history of Chinese Buddhism, we know that their academic analysis is very detailed. He made a classification based on the different ideas of the XNUMX patriarchs.It turns out that among our thirteen patriarchs, there are three types of pure land thoughts. We all thought there was only one, right?Then we practiced for a long time, but it was not effective. It turns out that we did not grasp the purest method of cultivation before. It is one of the three methods, but it is more difficult and not easy to achieve. Our Pure Land Method is used by thousands of people. .
The first category of these three categories belongs to, "Hui Yuanliu", that is, Master Huiyuan, our first ancestor, he relied on his own self-reliance, and they practiced their own views. He followed the "Bangzhou Sanmai Sutra", and they practiced "viewing". Missing Buddha", one hundred and twenty-three people form a lotus society, among them there are eighteen sages. They are all martial arts, and they can really enter the world of bliss.They relied on their own strength to study and then go back. If we cultivate like this, will we be able to cultivate?Therefore, the academic circle judges it to be self-reliant, relying on its own strength to return.
There is another kind of "Hui Ri Ci Stun Liu". This master is also relatively unfamiliar, but his thoughts, in fact, most of our practice are related to him, because at that time he was in a relationship, Zen was very popular. Therefore, in order to guide these Zen practitioners, miscellaneous practitioners, and other miscellaneous practitioners to return to the Pure Land, you directly persuade them to recite Buddhism and they refuse to do so. Therefore, he advocates self-reliance, on the one hand, you can rely on yourself. It is impossible and difficult to understand with our thinking, but we can directly believe it.What the patriarch said, as long as you believe it, take it straight, and believe that when we chant this Buddha name, we see the Buddha, not with our eyes, but with our heart, that is, when we become a Buddha, what should I say?Because how can the Buddhas of the ten directions save sentient beings?He also recites the Buddha to save sentient beings!It is also to persuade people to recite the Buddha's name and rebirth in the world of bliss, and all the Buddhas in the ten directions praise and admire them, right?He even said later that "to survive, that is, to die, that is to live." We are now surviving, and we have already made a wish to survive, and the moment we make a wish is to die. Oh, this is difficult to adapt to, and even we are living.This is the truth, it’s hard for us to understand, but if we listen to it, the master says, "Enlightenment is the most difficult, belief is the easiest, but you can go straight down." You just need to believe it, then we are now complete. This is a pure land. The Dharma is really a very inconceivable and ingenious place. It truly surpasses other methods and is the method with the highest realm.We generally think that Zen is the highest, the Prajna Sutra is the highest, and the Huayan Sutra is the highest. Actually!It is our highest method!The most inconspicuous, most despised, is actually the highest level.You see, after listening for a long time, we still don’t understand. How can it be so simple, it is usually the first cause and the consequence, right?
After enlightenment, there are still three great almsgivings to cultivate, and slowly cultivate to become a Buddha.But our method is not. When we are chanting, we see the Buddha and become a Buddha. How can it be so wonderful and incredible?There is only this method!So our Pure Land School is called Lianzong. Why is it called Lianzong? When the lotus flower blooms, this lotus seed has grown at the same time. At the same time, the theory of our Pure Land School is very ingenious, and it is completely the realm of Buddha fruit land.So even the waiting for enlightenment Bodhisattva can't figure it out, and the Guanyin Bodhisattva can't figure it out. It's cause and effect. At the same time, we are cultivating the cause, right?The retribution is already here, and when we recite the Buddha now is when we become a Buddha, it's so incredible!So the achievement of this method is really the fastest. If you cultivate the cause right now, the immediate result will be there, but we can't feel it, and we don't know the correct cause of cultivation.In fact, there is a cause. When we recite the Buddha, there is a cause and an effect at the same time. It's just that we don't feel this extraordinary benefit. In fact, all cause and effect exist.So we can’t neglect this method. This method is the easiest to learn, the highest realm, and the quickest achievement.
Through our understanding of the heart and desire of Buddha Amitabha, we have become familiar with him, and after the induction, we can actually enter this realm, and we can enter without knowing it. There is no way to think.Therefore, we still have to be in touch with Amitabha, after receiving his blessing, we can naturally enter this state.

We are always present at any time!We often appear in the realm of the Three Evil Ways, so it is exactly what it is for us.From this vow and the sequence of his vows, we can realize that Amitabha is the most caring for us, and his relationship with us is closer than his relationship with the Bodhisattva.What He made for the Bodhisattva was to make five vows by the way and put them at the end.
This method is especially aimed at us, because the great compassion of the Buddha Amitabha is superior to the Buddhas in the ten directions. He knows that we are the most suffering and have no ability to escape on our own. The sentient beings in the world of sannyas are taught in the "Song of Tragedy". It was placed by four thousand Buddhas, and many Buddhas gave up on us. Therefore, the great compassion of Amitabha is really superior to the Buddhas in the ten directions.For us, the fourteen Buddhas abandon us from coming to the world of Saha, but Amitabha does not abandon us. We are really pitiful, and only He is wise and can save us. The other Buddhas are not them. They are not merciful, but they can't save them. Our world is really strong and difficult beings.The compassion of the Buddha is equal, but the skill of saving sentient beings is different.In other words, only this special method set up by Buddha Amitabha can save us, especially sentient beings who are in the end of the Dharma. It is also stated in the "Great Mercy Sutra" that only the pure land method can be saved, and we are now in the period of the end of Dharma.
And from the first wish and the second wish, we can also realize that there is an analogy in the "Nirvana Sutra". Amitabha's mood is like that our parents, of course, surpass their parents too much, and the parents love their children. Of course, they are all children of their own. But if one of the children is sick and is very sick, what is the mood of the parents? Is he particularly anxious?You see, if a child gets sick and has a fever, the mother may stay up and watch by her side all night.In fact, Amitabha is always by our side.
