I deeply feel that in the current environment, the most ideal place for cultivation is in the mainland, and the treasured place for cultivating happiness is in Taiwan, and the place to enjoy happiness is in the United States, Canada and Australia. The more mature Buddhist karma.

Why is it said that the mainland is good for cultivation?Because the solemnity of many thousand-year-old temples with far-reaching history and culture in the mainland and the Taoism established by the ancestors of the past dynasties are considered strong, and most of the traditional jungle monasteries in the mainland have more assiduous living conditions and stricter regulations. Due to the faults in moral education during the Cultural Revolution, the people's understanding and cultivation of Buddhism were still very limited, which resulted in that, on the one hand, people above middle age were still able to endure hardships. Therefore, it is very suitable for practitioners to exercise straight-mindedness with each other, and there is also a large room for development in the aspect of saving sentient beings.On the other hand, in this treasure land of Taiwan, the human nature is relatively honest, and the moral education of cause and effect is relatively popular, so it is really possible to cultivate happiness. The development ratio and scale of various Buddhist monasteries are very prosperous, and they come from all over the world. The virtuous and benevolent knowledge can be seen everywhere, and in such a situation where all the predestined conditions are in harmony, it is possible to breed such an international humanistic Buddhist bodhisattva sangha represented by Tzu Chi. In practice, most of them are implemented in the human world. Charity, medical treatment, relief... and other aspects of blessing, also facilitate the dissemination of Buddhist principles applicable to the human world.Since Buddhism in other countries and regions has not yet truly taken root, although it seems that it is gradually prosperous and lively in practice and blessing, such as stars, horses, and seals, it still needs a long time for the development of Buddhism to truly enter the heart and truly localize. The plowing of time.Not to mention the United States, Australia and Canada. There are not many opportunities for development. So far, there are only a few large Buddhist groups scattered in some areas, and they have been able to maintain normal operations for a long time. Development is still limited by the historical and cultural constraints of religious beliefs, such as the factors of local sects such as Islam and Christianity, and the factors that people generally like to pursue material civilization, so it seems that it is difficult to have good development conditions in a short period of time.

The first time I went to mainland China, it was before I came into contact with Buddhism at home. It was almost thirty years ago. At that time, I heard that the closure project of the Yangtze River Dam was about to be carried out, so I took out a huge amount of travel insurance. Benefit to the family, and prepare to catch up on a trip to the mainland to explore the Yangtze River before that.When I was in the Mood for Love, I was alone. I traveled as a backpacker for nearly a month. On the way, I experienced firsthand the serious atmosphere under the control of the Communist Party and the inconvenience of undeveloped civilized conditions. I was most impressed. It was in the bathroom of the new boat on the maiden voyage of the Yangtze River. The stool that seemed to weigh no less than XNUMX pounds was piled up like a mountain, and there was no place to squat at all. I was so scared that I didn't dare to solve it on the boat for a few days, and I almost suffocated it. When I got sick, I was always afraid that I would break the rules and be served by the police. Even the paid high-end services made people feel stressed, and there was no leisurely enjoyment of tourists.After finally returning to Taiwan, when I got off the plane, I couldn’t help but want to kneel and kiss the land of Taiwan. I am deeply grateful that I was fortunate enough to be born and raised in Taiwan in this life. For the first time, I truly felt the pride and happiness of being a Taiwanese. , This is the biggest gain of my first trip to the mainland. At the same time, I also silently hope that it is best not to have the opportunity to go to the mainland again in my life.

It has been more than ten years since I went to the mainland for the second time. It was in XNUMX, after graduating from the Dharma training class of the Singapore Jingzong Society. At that time, I was lucky to be among the best because of my graduation results, and my fate with the old monk Qingkong It was also very good, so the old monk asked me face to face if I would like to live in Australia, but because of many things, I was forced to leave the institute because of the lack of maturity. I had to go to a senior in the mainland, and with his help, arranged for me to go to the ancestral court of a nuns to study discipline in Beijing to place an order.I lived there for three months. I was blessed by the Three Treasures and blessed by the old monk. The master was very courteous to me. He invited me to give a lecture at the Daxiong Hall every week. In the biggest sandstorm, the devout audience, old and young, can crowd the Mahavira Hall to the full.However, the living conditions in the temple are very poor. You can only take a hot coal-burning bath once a week. The food you eat every day is either fried potatoes or steamed potatoes, or some cabbage, tofu, and Shandong steamed bread. Every day, I live like this. This Taiwanese novice novice who has never experienced hardships and has a lot of karmic obstacles to learn Buddhism, can really live like a year, especially in the face of the master from the three northeastern provinces, that kind of straightforward and heroic character, it is true that wind is rain, and joy and anger are manifested in the form. Even though I received the courtesy of the abbot and the honored status of being promoted to lectures, as a small novice nun with the lowest level, if I am not careful, it is inevitable that I will be rubbed by them, but I can still feel in my heart Because it is full of the Dao mind and Dharma flavor of the beginning of the heart, it is possible to experience the joy that arises in suffering, but at the moment of suffering, it is my habit to hope that the days of suffering will end quickly.The experience of participating in the study for three months has already made me confirm the basic concept of good practice in the mainland. It can be said that I am full of a high sense of awe for the practice life in the mainland, and I am both anticipating and afraid of being hurt.

Recently (early XNUMX), I visited a nun group on Mount Wutai in mainland China. It was snowing weather when I went there. It has been XNUMX years since my last visit to Mount Wutai. It's still the same, but the personnel is different. I remember that there were only about XNUMX or XNUMX people in the resident congregation. It seems that almost all of the nuns are like gods. The refined atmosphere impressed me deeply, so I have the will to visit again this time.This time I came to see that the number of permanent residents has grown into the largest nun and sangha group in the country. Together with the three nearby branches, there are nearly XNUMX people. This is probably something I can’t do in my life. I also rejoice from the bottom of my heart, and feel honored that our nuns and sanghas can have such a size.This time I came to Mount Wutai to study, and I was very fortunate. Under the circumstances that it was inconvenient to place an order, not only did I put it up, but it also allowed me to spend the year there without precedent, and I also got the red envelope of the current monk's New Year's Day. , the karma is very special.But the original idea was to use this visit again, maybe if the karma is good enough, I will stay for a summer, and then study some precepts in depth, but when I saw this, I gave up the idea and only asked for some precepts. The magic weapon intends to go back to study.Because the scene of training with nearly XNUMX people in the morning and evening classes is very spectacular, but it seems to be in the special forces. The atmosphere of practice is greatly different from the corresponding atmosphere in my impression. , in terms of body and mind, it can only be in a more leisurely and peaceful environment, which is not suitable for fighting on the front line, so I finally decided to go back to the closed room I managed in Taitung to complete the homework of three or five years of confinement. Our master in Taitung Guanfang retreat temporarily canceled the retreat arrangement because he was busy with preaching the Dharma. At present, it seems that Taitung can maintain a simple atmosphere and is more suitable for silent retreat.The magnetic field of the entire environment in mainland China has really changed a lot from more than ten years ago. Whether it is the restlessness of people's hearts, the over-exploitation of the environment, and all kinds of pollution, it really needs to be improved by everyone.

On the way back, I went to a thousand-year-old ancient temple in Fujian for a week. It was a congregation of nuns under the management of a bhikkhu sangha. The nuns lived and studied alone, and the scale should be able to accommodate hundreds of people. , But there are only four resident nuns. The head teacher is miserable. He cried to me many times, and asked me to stay there to help the congregation develop the lower house. There is no one to lead the teaching, although the temple can maintain the ancient temple style and solemn construction, but the abbot is busy with the development and maintenance of the temple all day long, and has no time to take care of other things.Seeing this circumstance, if I do not set my mind on the development of Buddhism, do my best to continue the Taoism of the ancient temple, and only focus on my own practice and homework, I feel deeply regretful in my heart, so I verbally promised the master teacher to return to Taiwan. During the period of three to five years, if the monastery is a resident here, if there are courses arranged, I will take some time to come back to teach regularly every season.The master knew that I had already made arrangements to stop speaking, and she insisted on persuading me to stay and live. She was willing to support me to stop speaking, but before I came here, I had already been there and also tried to live in an Amitabha village in Fujian. It was a monastery of four groups headed by bhikkhus. They recited Buddha’s practice all day long. There were about XNUMX or XNUMX people in the resident group. , but it is also inconvenient to stop talking because of the good relationship. Even if I put a stop speech sign, I can't bear to see some old Bodhisattvas who don't know what stop speech is so sincere and eager to get close again and again. If you don’t respond, you will often speak with good intentions, and you can’t achieve the same determination as some Zen practitioners who hold on to words for the first few years and don’t talk to anyone in the permanent residence, so I finally decided to go back to the closed room managed by myself in Taitung. Arrange homework on how to stop speech.Because it was confirmed that it would not work to stay silent for a long time in the sangha, so I thanked the master teacher for his enthusiastic support, and returned to the closed room in Taitung as scheduled seven days after placing the order.

It has been XNUMX years since I returned to the mainland to study in XNUMX. Since I came to Beijing to study and returned to Taiwan in XNUMX, in the past XNUMX years, I have only received I was invited to a monastery in Wuhan to give lectures twice. Both times, I stayed for a week and left in a hurry. It can be said that the shock I had in my previous impression was still lingering in my heart. Even after training, I still didn't dare to muster up the courage to return to the mainland.This time I returned to the mainland to study, although it was only a short month and a half before and after, I felt that I had gained a lot. I gave myself a very high score for my performance, because not only the monasteries that originally did not allow orders to be placed I hang up, I really have some merits that change my realm, and the popularity of the upper and lower ranks is also very special. After that, all the resident members sincerely hope that I can stay there. Although the two sides of the Taiwan Strait seem to be close to each other geographically, in fact, the deep barriers in each other's hearts have long been deeply rooted in their hearts, and this breakthrough is all due to the blessing power generated by the deep cultivation of Buddhism in life situations. , this experience can be regarded as one of my passing exam results in the XNUMX years of practicing Buddhism.For me, every time I go to the mainland to experience life, it can always give me the most profound improvement. To take suffering as a teacher, and to hone Dao Qi and xinxing, the mainland is the most ideal place.

Compared with the hardships of monasticism in mainland China and the solemnity of ancient temples, the United States, Canada, and Australia appear to be completely contrasting images. The development of civilization in Western countries is relatively more advanced than that in the East. The atmosphere of life in the United States is very free and open, full of vigor and vitality. , People are happy to pursue scientific and technological civilization, and most of their life uses are mainly convenient and practical. Compared with Europe, they are not so refined, but they can also give people a pragmatic impression.Canada is very beautiful. Many areas are snowy and cold for most of the year. It can be imagined that the atmosphere is very peaceful and leisurely. It has also done a relatively good job in political management and people's welfare. It is really a paradise for enjoying the elderly.In XNUMX, in order to investigate the current situation of Buddhism in Australia and to visit the teachers and uncles who had not seen each other for a long time, I also took the opportunity to do some small blessings for my group of students who often follow on Facebook, so I took the flight first. When I arrived in Brisbane, I went directly to Toowoomba for a few days. I met my uncle who I hadn't seen for many years in the college, and I felt very cordial. Although I haven't seen each other for more than ten years, everything seems to have changed little. Eighteen years ago, my uncle who taught me how to play the bells and drums in person, when she saw me, she asked in amazement, "Hey! Didn't you return to the secular world long ago?" I hurriedly explained that it was a misunderstanding and that everyone misrepresented it. I didn't expect that I have always been quite famous in Australia!There is also an uncle who has always been good at taking care of people. When he saw me, he still cared about me everywhere, as if I had never left the institute, and immediately enthusiastically helped me arrange all aspects of accommodation. I am really grateful to him.

Australia's prices are said to be among the best in the world. About XNUMX years ago, I was a backpacker and traveled to Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, and Brisbane alone for nearly a month. Most of them stayed in good three or four-star hotels on the way, especially in the apartment hotels on the Gold Coast. The living room, kitchen and suite are all available, and the daily rent is not as expensive as the general business hotel in Taiwan. After a month, including The tuition fee for a week of skiing in Canberra seems to be less than NT$XNUMX. I feel that the consumption is not more expensive than Taiwan.This time to visit Australia again, it really scared me, so I originally booked a three-month in-depth itinerary, but I went home in less than half a month. The subsequent trips to Sydney and Melbourne were all cancelled, although it was said that the student protected the law. The travel expenses they are willing to pay are sufficient, but a cup of soy milk is only ten yuan in Taiwan, but in Australia it costs between eighty to one hundred yuan, and a full breakfast will cost more than three hundred yuan, and lunch even costs four. Five hundred yuan, you can have a feast on a French-style vegetarian meal in Taiwan. How can it be digested? I really can't swallow it!Let’s take a look at the Taitung Dojo where we live now. We drink free mountain spring water and eat vegetables grown by our neighbors. The electricity consumption is also very limited. Yuan can't be used up, so it is possible to maintain an area of ​​more than XNUMX square meters, consisting of eight container houses.With such a large consumption gap, people who are used to living in Taiwan's treasured island of high quality and low price can be really frightened.

In XNUMX, I was also invited to Florida and Los Angeles to promote the Dharma and form a bond. The price is relatively stable compared to Australia. I also learned about the current situation of Buddhism from the local Buddhist disciples. Basically, Buddhism is not too much. There are signs of development. Most of them may be retired laymen who study at home, or a small number of overseas branches of the Taiwan Sangha can still operate stably.And if Canada has the blessings and the ability to self-study, it is really a good place to practice and enjoy pure blessings. Whether it is living environment or political type, it is relatively stable.In XNUMX, I was invited to Toronto to preach the Dharma. After staying for two months, I taught the "Brahma Net Sutra Bodhisattva Precepts" and many Pure Land lectures.During this period, I also met the teacher YizhifruitunderQing lawyers were also invited to teach the Bodhisattva Precepts. I was fortunate to have participated in the whole process of precepts, and after the consummation of the dharma meeting, I traveled with the Qing monks and abbots to visit other local old monasteries. The Dharma was full of joy. Many times I have tried to invite me to arrange time to go again, but unfortunately the atmosphere of learning Buddhism there is not very mature.Living there for a long time is too much happiness for me. I would like to take advantage of the stage where I can still move around and go to the mainland to exercise more and practice physical and mental ascetic practices. Precious seeds, fulfilling the duty of a monk to spread the Dharma and benefit life, and when it really comes to the stage of retirement, it would be a great blessing to be able to live in Canada and practice self-cultivation.

Talking about the dharma connection in the Xingma and India area, that is a key starting point for me to officially spread the Dharma and circulate the magic weapon. From XNUMX to the present five or six years, it is an important part of my intensive Dharma propagation and the spread of Master Shandao's pure land thought. At this stage, for most of the year, I lecture at the Jingzong Institutes and local monasteries in various countries in Singapore, Malaysia and India. Once I enter Malaysia, I usually leave the country after two months of visas. I arrange lectures almost every day. It's really strange. During those times, I almost forgot to get sick. I never knew what it was like to see a doctor in Southeast Asia. I was busy with lectures and preparations every day, and I seldom accepted invitations from lay Buddhists to go out to play. , I am almost unfamiliar with it, and the blessings I have accumulated over the past ten years of my monkhood and practice began to gradually appear at this stage.

To sum up my feelings, I can only describe the Buddhist practitioners in the area of ​​Singapore, Malaysia and India with the word distressed. I feel that most of the practitioners there have good roots. Compared with the Chinese in Western countries, they are still more capable. Some traditional Chinese moral culture is preserved, but unfortunately the understanding of Chinese is still weak, the understanding and absorption of the profound Dharma meaning of the Buddhadharma is very limited, the progress of practicing the three studies of precepts, concentration and wisdom is very slow, and the Dharma conference on transcendence has always been It is very enthusiastic. It is best to rely on the Master to supercharge and bless you without practicing. Therefore, in the past ten or twenty years, the atmosphere of studying Buddhism and the establishment of dojos may seem to have some achievements, but in fact, can they make a difference? The Buddhadharma enters the heart and becomes a profound transformation force in life, which may still require the joint efforts of the four disciples.During the years when I was intensively preaching the Dharma, I saw with my own eyes many old practitioners who had been practicing Buddhism for ten or twenty years. In order to seek acceptance, in those years, in addition to promoting Master Shandao's Pure Land Thought, I also actively taught the Five Precepts, and gradually corrected everyone's myths about taking refuge and accepting precepts.Last year (the end of XNUMX), before I planned to stop talking and recite the Buddha, I also specially invited my teacherfruitunderThe monk Qing went to teach the three refuge and five precepts of the Bodhisattva Precepts to my old fellow practitioners and fellow practitioners who have long admired the monk Qing's morality, and planted the seeds of the morality of taking the precepts and learning the precepts. I hope that the fellow practitioners in Xingmayin will have the opportunity to follow the Qing Dynasty. The monks study the precepts in depth.As for the fellow practitioners there, I can only say that love hurts, and there is nothing I can do about it.

In Taiwan's Buddhist circles, there are various ways to cultivate the Dharma, whether it is lively or not, whether it is the Dharma of Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Tibetan Buddhism, traditional incense temples, or even Buddhist institutes recognized by the Ministry of Education, general Buddhist academies and ashrams can all take root and even thrive here.Because Taiwanese people have a relatively large heart, and they are happy to cultivate and form a bond, just like the popularity of commodities from various countries, and idol stars always have the opportunity to shine in Taiwan.There are also many good teachers here. The proportion of people who teach the Fa and the affiliation with magic weapons is almost higher than that of other places in the world. The Buddhist world, whether it is software or hardware, can be said to be quite mature and stable. This is really thanks to Taiwan's democratic politics. , religious freedom and the honesty and simplicity of the folk customs can retain the roots of Chinese Buddhism.But after all, extremes turn into opposites. Once everything develops to a mature stage, it becomes easy not to be cherished, and it is not so rare anymore. Therefore, there are fewer and fewer people who can truly practice the Dharma with faith and respect. At this stage, Buddhism in Taiwan The substantive development of sects is probably only at the level of merit. The great practitioners, bodhisattvas, eminent monks and great virtues of the past generation seem to be rarer and rarer. To shine in modern times and to realize the real role of salvation, it should be combined with the resources of Taiwanese religious circles, democratic experience, and the assiduous cultivation style of ancient temples and jungles in mainland China.

Talking about the dharma connection to Brazil in XNUMX, this is very rare. The origin has to be the connection that was formed shortly after I first started preaching the dharma on Facebook more than four years ago. The person who invited me to preach the dharma in Brazil was my face. My friend in the book, a devout Catholic from Brazil, has occasionally exchanged her teachings with me on Facebook over the past few years. Many popes have strongly encouraged Catholics to implement the spirit of fraternity and to actively communicate with Buddhists. This kind of heart is very compatible with the practice of Mahayana Bodhisattva in Buddhism, so we naturally became good pagan friends. , and gradually sprout a substantial relationship with fellow practitioners.Some Christians, because of their misunderstandings about Buddhism, reject Buddhism that believes in the one true God (self-nature) as a folk belief that worships polytheistic idols, and they lose the opportunity to recognize the truth. This is a pity.In fact, the original teachings of various orthodox religions refer to the one and only true God, all of which point to the same supreme being, and are only manifested by different causes and conditions in terms of form and name, because the supreme truth is always the only one.The reason why the mutual exclusion occurs is due to human factors. Some are really misunderstanding the meaning of the law, and some are the result of personal interests. I have the opportunity to discuss this part with you in detail.

Although the arrangement was only a short ten days, with a total of two cities, I was able to benefit the Brazilians. Traits impressed.Brazilians are very enthusiastic, open, and have unique living and geographical conditions. Therefore, people are not as diligent and thrifty as Chinese people. After the blessings are gradually enjoyed, the economic and even personal conditions of the entire country can only deteriorate. Therefore, in terms of public security , the quality of the living environment is also unstable, and the local religious beliefs can only stay on the level of spiritual beliefs. As for the implementation of their own practice, it is still not popular.When I went to Brazil that time, I was arranged on an open-air podium in a national park to exchange Dharma with a group of relatively caring people such as public officials from the Environmental Protection Agency and animal conservationists. I also introduced yoga and worshipping Buddha. , and took the initiative to ask about the teachings of Buddhism. In the end, they all said that after listening to the lecture, they finally realized that most of them in Brazil were really lacking in self-cultivation. They felt that the lecture was very inspiring to them. big.During that lecture, we had a video of the whole course for circulation, and the whole Dharma connection was very special. During the process, we were fortunate to have the assistance of a Chinese monk who has lived in Brazil for more than ten years, and brought his Dharma protector to the scene. I did the full translation in Portuguese, and finally invited me to the main hall of their monastery to give a casual lecture to the believers.At present, the magic weapon we recorded continues to be circulated in their group of environmentalists. This can be regarded as a small religious diplomacy and diplomatic karma between countries.

After the successful trip to the United States and Brazil in the second half of XNUMX, they arranged to transit to Japan before returning, which was also an invitation from another Facebook fan. Their family has been learning yoga and worshipping Buddha for more than two years. Time is up, this time I came to Japan and lived in the home of the local Chinese. Only then did I realize that the Chinese in Japan generally seldom entertain guests and stay at home. , Every morning I go for a run in the neighborhood alone, and when I see people on the street, there are few smiling faces on their faces, and most of them are very serious. That kind of look always reminds me of the many disasters in Japan in recent years. , Of course, no one will be able to live happily, but in fact, the real reason behind it is the lack of spiritual resources. The consumption of local life in Japan is very high, and the average life pressure is not small. Every day is busy with making money and leisure, basically They don’t pay much attention to practice, so most Buddhist temples in Japan don’t pay much attention to the precepts, and only focus on the development of faith. Many of the monks (laying family members) in the temple are also paid jobs. The staff are not monks who have truly followed the Buddhist precepts, and many are even family businesses. The father and son inherit the business, and the descendants inherit the status of the abbot of the monastery. Most of the Buddhism in Japan can be said to be different from the traditional Indian Buddhism. Alternative Buddhism, of course, there may be a small number of great practitioners who truly follow the Dharma.

In the past XNUMX years of studying Buddhism, I have traveled around for more than ten years at home and abroad due to the karma of spreading the Dharma or participating in the study. Although I have not been to many countries, I have been able to grasp the current state of most Buddhism in general. In the past XNUMX years, my body and mind seem to have gradually become more honest, and gradually I don’t have any obvious curiosity or desire for this world. If there is, I hope that I can live in Taitung. In Puxian’s room, first enjoy a few years of continuous blessing of reciting Buddha all day long, as a way to improve the practice. This hope is already a very rare blessing in this Mahayana country that attaches great importance to joining the WTO. .This closed house in Taitung was built more than four years ago. I purchased two container houses and then gradually increased to seven container houses. The roof was also covered with iron sheets for heat insulation. A few nuns and elder sisters suggested to help the formation.I recently came back from the mainland, and it took a few days to add another container as a living room for the public to use in the future. The closing construction here is basically complete.Although the Taitung Dojo is very simple, the magnetic field of practice is very good. Compared with the ascetic jungle in the deep mountains under the wind of the old monk Xuyun in the Baolin Temple in Hong Kong in the past, the equipment here is of the villa-level level.Students at home and abroad who have come from afar to place orders, and even the neighbors who have not yet made up their minds to learn Buddhism and practice can also feel this peaceful atmosphere, and almost every day they send some vegetables and fruits over, and they like to drop by. If you visit, it can be said that although the sparrow is small, it has all the internal organs. It not only has the Tao, food, and both soft and hard bodies, but it can also stay away from all kinds of karmic karma in the world.
